As electrical equipment increasingly demands higher standards for power quality, safety, reliability, convenience, immediacy, and performance in special situations and geographical environments, contact-based power transmission methods are becoming increasingly inadequate for practical needs.
Wireless chargers utilize the principle of electromagnetic induction for charging, similar to a transformer. They employ coils at both the transmitting and receiving ends. The transmitting coil emits electromagnetic signals under the influence of electricity, while the receiving coil receives and converts these signals into current, thus achieving wireless charging. Wireless charging technology is a special power supply method that eliminates the need for power cords, relying on electromagnetic wave propagation to convert electromagnetic wave energy into electrical energy.
On September 1, 2024, the "Interim Provisions on Radio Management of Wireless Charging (Power Transmission) Equipment" issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology came into effect. In October 2025, Figure AI announced that its Figure 03 humanoid robot adopted a wireless charging solution built into its feet, allowing it to charge by stepping onto a wireless charging base.
