Electromagnetic Induction
This is the most common way wireless chargers work. It utilizes the principle of electromagnetic induction, generating current through electromagnetic induction between primary and secondary coils, thus transferring energy within a spatial range. This method of wireless charger implementation has been promoted by the Wireless Power Consortium.
Radio Waves
Radio waves are currently a more mature wireless charging method. It works by using miniature, high-efficiency receiving circuits to capture radio waves in space and then converting electromagnetic energy into stable electrical energy. Some companies have already claimed to be able to wirelessly charge electronic devices smaller than cell phones from several meters away.
Electromagnetic Resonance
This is a wireless charging technology still under development. This technology is primarily being researched by a team led by a physics professor at MIT. Intel engineers used this technology as a basis to light a 60-watt light bulb about 1 meter away from a power source, achieving a transmission efficiency of 75%. Intel engineers stated that the next goal is to use this wireless charging technology to charge modified laptops. However, to achieve this goal, it is necessary to address the interference and influence of electromagnetic fields on other components in the computer.
